Improving My Foot Comfort

I was a kid when I first noticed my foot problems. It felt like I was always struggling with my walking, and I could tell that my feet were a little unstable. However, a friend of mine recommended a great podiatrist when I was young, and it made a huge difference. The podiatrist inspected my feet, fitted me with custom orthotics, and really made things feel a lot better. This blog is all about improving your foot comfort, so that you can exercise, play with your kids, and enjoy your life in a new way. Check out this blog for more information.

Bunion Causing You Constant Pain? What You Can Do About It

Holly Mitchell

A bunion is a condition of the foot in which the big toe begins to move inward, leaving the bone at the base of the toe to push out. The other toes can then be squished by the big toe, which can also be painful. The protruding bone is painful, as it rubs on your shoes when you walk and can leave you in constant pain. If you have this foot issue, you need to have it treated before it worsens and requires surgery. Read on for a few things you may be able to do about this condition.

Wear A Toe Brace

Wearing a toe brace to help pull your toe back out and into the correct position can help with your bunion, especially if you just have a minor bunion. If you have a major bunion where your toe has moved so far over and your bunion is in the place where your big toe should be, surgery may be the answer, and a brace may not help you at this point. You can find these types of braces online, or you can talk to your podiatrist about where to find one. Wear the brace every day to help keep your toes in alignment and to reduce the appearance of the bunion.

Wear Different Shoes

Your shoes are more than likely the culprit in your bunion issue. If you are wearing shoes that are ill-fitting, they could be causing this condition. Shoes that squish your toes or that are too narrow for your feet should be replaced with shoes that have a wider toe area to fit your toes properly. Shoes that press your foot forward and put too much pressure on the toes, such as high heels could also be the problem. Switch to a lower-heeled shoe that offers more support. A good rule of thumb is if your shoes are causing you any pain at all, stop wearing them and get shoes that fit your feet properly.

Take An Over-The-Counter Pain Medication

If you are in constant pain and you are having trouble walking without pain, you should get to a podiatrist for help. In the meantime to help control the pain, take over-the-counter pain medicine to ease your pain and to help keep you going.

If you have pain caused by a bunion on your foot, make an appointment with the podiatrist for help. Use the tips above to help ease your pain as well.
