Improving My Foot Comfort

I was a kid when I first noticed my foot problems. It felt like I was always struggling with my walking, and I could tell that my feet were a little unstable. However, a friend of mine recommended a great podiatrist when I was young, and it made a huge difference. The podiatrist inspected my feet, fitted me with custom orthotics, and really made things feel a lot better. This blog is all about improving your foot comfort, so that you can exercise, play with your kids, and enjoy your life in a new way. Check out this blog for more information.

4 Ways To Improve The Look Of Your Feet

Holly Mitchell

If you're self-conscious about your feet, you aren't alone. Many women worry that their feet are unattractive, whether due to foot size or bone structure. Here are four things you can do to improve the look of your feet if you're concerned.

1. Choose the right size shoe.

If you're concerned about your feet looking bulky, you may be surprised to know that a larger shoe can actually make your foot look more dainty. An ill-fitting shoe can call unwanted negative attention to the size of your feet. When purchasing shoes, always choose the correct size. It will be more flattering, and it will also keep your feet comfortable and prevent foot injury. When you wear the types of shoes you enjoy, your confidence will shine through.

2. Keep your toenails pedicured.

Long, unkempt, dirty toenails can make any foot look less attractive. Keeping your toenails tidy is an easy way to make your feet look better. During a pedicure, a professional will remove calluses from your feet. They will also remove hangnails and push back your cuticles. Nail polish is an optional addition, but it's not necessary. If you can't afford regular pedicures at a salon, you can do much of the work yourself at home. You can remove rough, dead skin with a pumice stone and keep your toenails trimmed using a simple pair of nail clippers.

3. Have bunions removed.

Bunions are bony protrusions located at the base of your big toe. They can be caused by many factors, including poorly fitted shoes and improper gait. Some bunions cause no pain, and these don't need to be removed. However, if the appearance of your bunions is causing you distress, a podiatrist can perform a surgery to excise it. This surgery is quick and easy, performed under local anesthesia. However, you will likely need to wear a protective boot over your foot and keep off it as you heal.

4. Choose cosmetic toe surgery.

If one of your toes extends farther than the others, you may be self-conscious and hesitant to wear open-toed shoes. This foot structure can even cause pain when wearing close-toed shoes. Fortunately, there is a cosmetic surgery that can help. A podiatrist can perform cosmetic toe surgery to shorten the length of a toe that is too long. This will allow you to fit into shoes more comfortably. It can boost your confidence and allow you to show off your feet without worry.
